Where Are the Articles About Peace?
As the media pounds the war drums and promotes escalation, isn’t the only real path forward a ceasefire and diplomatic negotiations?
Invasion of a sovereign nation is a war crime. It was when the US did it to Iraq, it was when Russ!a entered Cr!mea eight years ago, and it was last week when troops crossed the border into greater Ukraine. Each was against international law and is a war crime that needs to be condemned and treated as such.
But all I have these days are questions. How did we get here? Where do we go from here? We’re on the brink of freaking nuclear war. Why the hell is nobody talking about peace? How is it that there are thousands of articles about ESCALATION and very very few about how to get out of this situation?
I feel like we’re in a WMD moment where all the energy is going in one direction and very few people are asking a simple question: how do we de-escalate?
The media is unbelievably war-hawkish, propagandistic, and irresponsible. In the rush of war, all voices harmonize. Republicans and Democrats and the EU are all on the same page. Everyone in ‘the freedom-loving West’ is promoting censoring their own internet. Any dissenting voices are demonized as ‘parroting Russ!an talking points.’
