The podcast I’ve been enjoying the most these days has been Scheer Intelligence, hosted by 86-year-old veteran journalist, Robert Scheer. The man is an absolute legend whose been interviewing, writing, and pushing back against American bullsh*t for over six decades.
He ran the famed Ramparts Magazine throughout the sixties, traveling to the Soviet Union and Vietnam, and he had a long career as a columnist for the LA Times, interviewing every president from Nixon to Clinton.
Being an independent thinker with a moral compass while reporting on politics, he spoke out against American interventions from Vietnam to Iraq. As a leftie from the Bronx who remembers the McCarthy era and co-founded an independent magazine in Berkeley, California, Scheer knows what it is to be a dissenting voice in America. He knows the consequences and the tools the media machine uses to keep all narratives within the approved framework of US propaganda.
He’s been challenging that machine his entire career.
