Uuuuuf hard disagree over here. I've heard US State Department war simulations with either nation quickly end in nuclear war and basically the end of humanity.

Idk how the nation would react to a 9/11 like event anymore either. COVID was mass death and Americans are at each others' throat more than ever.

When China inevitably steps in front I hope America has the humility to settle into second place but that's extremely unlikely.
