Why 2022 will hopefully be the year social media loses some steam and in-person chills in nature will be the perfect F-U to the man

2021 was a year with plenty of action and a lot more COVID. NFTs were everywhere, TikTok-ers kept twerking, Twitch streamers gamed more than ever, an autonomous AI-driven drone was allowed to hunt and fire on human targets for the first time, Robinhood intervened when the little guys were taking it to the man with Gamestop, billionaire assholes took joy rides to space to flaunt their wealth in front of the billions living in food insecurity, independent media kept siphoning disillusioned viewers causing the MSM to panic, and Facebook had a massive scandal then changed its name.

We continued to avoid each other and hitting national parks for some socially distanced fun was trendy AF. Millions got vaccinated and we started to see each other again, but because of vaccine apartheid, the virus keeps mutating and coming back to wealthy nations.

It was a hell of a year. As always, it’s hard to pay attention to the media and, when reflecting, not have the disasters stand out the most. There were, of course, many positive things that happened as well. I just can’t remember any — kidding.
