The CPC as in the Communist Party of China? Do they contribute to the state of things in the West? They serve as a fear mongering scapegoat for sure. Like in the Soviet Union days, we're meant to believe they're an existential threat when, in reality, they're only a threat to American domination, not the lives of American people--in my opinion.

Within their own borders there's obv a very very high level of surveillance, control, and a lack of transparency.
