A culture that does not grasp the vital interplay between morality and power, which mistakes management techniques for wisdom, and fails to understand that the measure of a civilization is its compassion, not its speed or ability to consume, condemns itself to death. — Chris Hedges

Credit Suisse isn’t just emblematic of Swiss banks. It is a shining example of the global economy. It is a great case study of how little the world has advanced in the last few hundred years. Money continues to beget a level of privilege that supersedes the legal system and allows one to buy their way out of basically anything. Massive financial criminals get white-glove treatment while the lawyerless peasants get decades-long sentences for non-violent drug offenses or billy clubbed for daring to peacefully protest.

The Guardian just dropped a gigantic and detailed piece on the leaks from a Credit Suisse whistleblower. They show decades of extremely shady behavior that doesn’t come as much of a surprise when you look at the bank’s run-ins with law enforcement over the past few years.
