Just back from taking trains around the Alps, and I’m trying to get my first piece of the year posted. Time sure flies. I feel I’m starting from scratch with no half-written essays in the chamber and very few ideas. Something will surely come, and in the meantime, I can highlight some of my favorites from last year.

I truly can’t believe I wrote well over one-hundred articles in 2022, knocking out a post every three days on average. As with anything, everyone might not be the best work of my life, nor are they each society-changing journalism, but I am very proud of the work I posted last year on Medium.

I wrote my thoughts about politics, economics, and travel on the internet and made enough money to pay my rent for twelve months straight. It wasn’t an income to live off of, but it was a critical side hustle and affirmation that writing is something I want to continue pursuing.

There still hasn’t been a moment where I’ve sat back and really let it sink in. I’ve built an audience here that will hopefully be 3,000 followers very shortly and an email list in the triple digits. That is freaking awesome, and I feel very fortunate.
