haha very fair question, John. And I admittedly don't have video of one of those case studies, but I'm sure I could find one.
the genesis for this piece was a CNN article about Eileen Gu where they said she had "stayed quiet" on issue X, Y, and Z regarding the country she is competing for, giving the impression that it was suspicious or she should be speaking out, which is a standard never held to western or American athletes regarding their countrys' misdeeds. It'd be laughable for CNN to put that in a piece about an English athlete, referencing their war crimes in Afghanistan or their treatment of Muslims after the Trojan Horse Affair, for example. John Smith "stayed quiet" or "hasn't spoken out" against this this and this thing that is happening in England is an article that won't be written in the media unless there's a very specific event like their caught at an 'eyes wide shut' party with Boris Johnson.
But I appreciate the check and am realizing that I'm now getting thousands of reads and should be a bit more careful with my assumptions, accusations, and words.
Cheers and thanks for the read!
